The Staff

East Nashville Hope Exchange staff are enthusiastic adults and teens who are committed to improving children’s lives.  Each classroom is led by a teacher and teen teacher assistant who create fresh, fun lesson plans for teaching all literacy-related classroom activities during the mornings.  Staff members must attend the two-week intensive EN Hope Exchange training (June 1 - June 14) which provides staff with the encouragement and guidance necessary to be confident, skilled, nurturing educators who offer an enriching summer experience for the children and families at EN Hope Exchange. Staff members are trained in the following areas:

  • Naming their own hopes & dreams, and formulating plans to achieve them
  • Identifying their areas of giftedness
  • Helping children identify their hopes and dreams; assisting children to formulate plans to achieve them
  • Empowering children to make a difference in their schools, their community, city, state, and the world
  • Developing daily teaching plans
  • Managing a classroom
