The next day showed the extent of the devastation

In April of 1998, a series of tornados ripped through Nashville, causing massive destruction. East Nashville was the most severely damaged neighborhood. Hundred-year-old trees were uprooted and whole blocks were laid waste - from the poorest neighborhoods to the most affluent, meticulously restored preservation districts.

St. Ann's historic nave and chancel were leveled as the Revd. Lisa Hunt, Rector, her two children, and another parishioner huddled in the basement reciting the 23rd Psalm. When they climbed the stairs and peered out, they saw the rubble: the fine glass, some by Tiffany, and the impressive organ, a gift of Andrew Carnegie, were in ruins.
